Are you unhappy with the appearance of worn, chipped, or small teeth? Dental bonding can quickly repair these problems to give you a beautiful smile of tall, shapely teeth. Bonding can also close gaps in your smile and reshape teeth like peg laterals to help you achieve the smile of your dreams. Best of all, cosmetic bonding is a quick, inexpensive procedure. It can be done in one appointment at a fraction of the cost of other cosmetic dentistry procedures. Bonding can be combined with gum recontouring to achieve an even bigger smile.

What is Dental Bonding?
Dental bonding is a procedure where a durable plastic material called resin is applied to the teeth and is hardened with a special light. As a result, the resin is bonded with the teeth to restore or improve your smile. Since this resin is similar to the color of your tooth, it looks natural and beautiful.
Why Should You Do Cosmetic Bonding?
At Irresistible Smiles, our chief dentist, Dr. Safarian, recommends dental bonding in the following situations:
- To repair any teeth that have decayed severely. These teeth can be fixed by applying composite resin to fill the cavities between the teeth.
- To set right any chipped or cracked teeth that make you feel conscious when you smile
- To reduce teeth discoloration that has been caused due to the intake of coffee, tea, and red wine or due to smoking
- To close gaps between teeth to improve your smile
- To even out your teeth and make it look longer
- To alter the shape of your teeth for a more even look
- To protect the tooth in case of a gum infection or decay
Our Dental Bonding Process
At Lovebites Dental San Diego, Dr. Safarian takes utmost care to protect your teeth. This is why he talks it out with you and makes you understand the need for this procedure.
When you are to start the process, we will schedule an appointment for you. There is little to no preparation needed for this procedure, as this is one of the simplest ones in the world of dentistry. No anesthesia is required for cosmetic bonding unless it is used specifically to fill a tooth cavity.
The first step is to identify your teeth color and match it with a composite resin color so that your teeth look natural at the end of the procedure. Once this is identified, the surface of the teeth will be roughened to make it conducive to take the process. A conditioning gel is then applied to help the resin bond to the teeth well. The resin is then fixed on the tooth and a UV light is applied to harden the resin material to the tooth. The resin is finally trimmed to match your teeth size. The entire procedure takes about 30 to 60 minutes per tooth.
